8034 Miles to Mecca

Today I drove 547 miles in my car but have only gone one mile in my journey to Mecca.  I used a treadmill to do my walking to mecca because I didn’t have the time to leave my busy life and find a way to focus on my Islam.

I saw snow-capped mountains in the distance and beautiful desert lakes, sparkling blue in the late autumn day.  I left before dawn and saw the sun rise through a few silver tinged clouds and saw the sun set while still shining on airplanes rushing to airports to the west.   And after dark I saw a horrible accident in a gully off to the side of the road.  Upside down vehicle with many highway patrol and rescue trucks tell a grim story even if you never find out the details.

So the vastness of Nevada and a gully of tragedy and while I combined my prayers as is permitted the traveler, I only traveled a single mile on my spiritual journey.  And in the gully, will they travel any further?

May Allah grant them some ease of their burden as I try to travel further on my own path.

About walkingtomecca

I am responsible for MY opinions and MY choices. If you think I am wrong, respond to my blog in an intelligent way and I might get back to you. Or viciously attack your stupidity. It is a toss up. I spend the little time that I have to write on this blog, but I would rather be looking at stamps, enjoying the world, but not wasting my time on people telling me how wrong I am. Thank you, I have children to do that to me.
